1 year, 11 months

Monthly picture time! It was a beautiful autumn day yesterday so Keillor and I went out to the porch with Dad.

Keillor was obviously ready for nap time!

Lots of excitement this past month! The big thing was starting at my Montessori school, of course. I love it there, although I don't love saying goodbye to Dad when he drops me off each morning. Most mornings I'm fine saying goodbye, but I still occasionally break down just to make Dad feel loved.

My teachers at school often mention that I'm a very good eater. And it baffles Mom and Dad, but I eat things at school that I refuse to touch at home. But at school I see all the other kids enjoying the food so of course I'll join in! Peas, carrots, mangoes, and blueberries are all on the school-only list. In fact, last week I asked for seconds on the peas and carrots at lunch.

My patience is tested every day with the amount of times I need to repeat myself when talking to Mom or Dad. But I usually remain calm and repeat the word as many times as they need. And to make it even more challenging, I'm learning Spanish at school so now I can confuse them in two languages! I'm getting good at counting to five on my own and when I say my ABCs along with Mom or Dad you can actually understand the letters now.

I've made some great progress on my walking this past month, as well. In fact, I took 10 steps on my own  at my physical therapy session on Tuesday (for some reason I always do better at PT!). At home I can do 3 or 4 steps on my own when asked (we'll try to post a video later this week). I spend a lot of time squatting and "jumping" which is great for building up my glutes, too. When walking longer distances with Mom or Dad, I only need to hold on with one hand now and my gait has become much more natural over the last couple weeks.

I love pointing at airplanes whenever we're outside and I actually get to ride on one this coming weekend for a short trip to Minnesota. We'll bring back pictures for sure!

Eating

Today's post falls under the category of "Only Interesting to Grandparents."

And full disclosure: As a special treat, Dad sometimes plays the Twins' game on the iPad during lunch on Sundays. So you may find me a little distracted at certain points during this video.

Lego

About two weeks ago Lego bricks suddenly became interesting. Like very interesting. I love to sit in the living room and play. Mom and Dad are amazed at how long I'll concentrate on building my towers. On Sunday morning we all got involved (well, except Keillor who was laying out in the yard)...

Dancing

Mom, Dad and I went to the annual square dance at church on Saturday. I had fun running around and watching the adults dance. We also got to have hot dogs for supper!

Hair

My teachers at school love to help me do my hair. Mom and Dad are quite impressed by what they've been able to do so far. Dad has asked for a lesson sometime soon. Here's what I came home with today:

And here's the look I get when I try to take the little rubber bands and bows out myself!

Busy

We apologize for lack of content this week, but we've been very busy! Unfortunately, the camera hasn't been included in much of the excitement.

Last week was spent transitioning into my new Montessori school. Tuesday through Thursday were all partial days while Friday was my first full day. I am really enjoying it, although I don't really like it when Dad leaves after dropping me off each morning. I don't think he knows this, but I really only cry for a few seconds after he leaves. That way he thinks I'll miss him throughout the day!

After Grandma left on Saturday, Dad and I went over to campus for a picnic breakfast while Mom and soon-to-be baby brother tried to sleep longer. I even got to bring the Legos to play with after we ate!

We promise to take more pictures this coming weekend!

Family

Last shot from Grandma's camera. Here's a family portrait from when we got to dip our our feet in Clear Creek (downtown Golden).

Going way back

Still catching up with pictures from Grandma's camera. Let's revisit when the cousins were here in July!

Special visitors

Katie and Brendon (cousins) visited last weekend (they live in Glenwood Springs) and I had a lot of fun playing on the porch. Especially with Brendon who helped me with the pink duct tape!

New playground

Dad got a hold of Grandma's camera the other day and downloaded a bunch of pictures from our time together these past two months. The next few blog posts will be sharing some of those.

Today's installment features a park that Grandma and I really like over in Wheat Ridge (about 12 minutes away from our house). It was so exciting that Grandma made Dad drive us back over there recently just to get pictures of me playing (since she didn't have her camera with us the first couple times we visited).

Little bells chimed when I pressed each lever. I was fascinated.

Post workout

Relaxing after a grueling physical therapy session in which I played with puzzles, toys and a giant swing (all while exercising without really knowing it).

Featuring the only fast food I'm allowed to have: A McDonald's water!
