3 years, 4 months & 1 year, 1 month

Fun monthly photo shoot this morning. We're including a bunch because they're all funny in their own way...

And this explains why we'll be finding Cheerios or toys in Keillor's ears in the future.

A little update on our month:
John loves to walk while holding hands or his little pushcart. He's starting to stand without holding anything for a few seconds, but hasn't quite taken steps on his own yet. We're all scared for when that happens. He moves around too fast already! Mom and Dad have asked me to fine tune my yelling for when I see him getting into something. They ask that I yell specific information rather than yelling, "JOHN!" at the top of my lungs. But my method seems to get Mom and Dad running to check on things so I really have no motivation to change.

John is understanding a lot more lately and communicating quite a bit. He's great at telling us no by shaking his head and he's perfected his high five technique this past week. Just yesterday we were all the the Buff's basketball game and it turns out that he knows some motions to the fight song. There's a part where we sing, "...roll up a mighty score..." and John did the rolling hand motions with the rest of us! I think it helps that I request that song to be played in the car on a daily basis.

I don't know if the habit is here to stay, but Johnny no longer eats everything Dad and Mom put on his tray. Two weeks ago he couldn't get enough butternut squash. This week he shoves it away. But overall, the kid is a great eater. The only bottle he gets is right before bed, so we'll probably ease that out of the picture this coming month, as well.

Swim lessons are still fun for the both of us. John is good at putting his head and face in the water (he usually tries to drink the water at that point, of course). He also doesn't seem to mind too much when Dad dunks him all the way. And like me, he seems to be a natural when it comes to floating on his back. In the big kid class, I've been working on the crawl stroke and backstroke. I'm still a bit too scared to take turns jumping into the pool with the rest of the kids, though. I've just never been a fan of my head getting dunked. I'll continue lessons throughout March and April, but John's age group doesn't have class so he'll have to find a different fun activity to do.

As for me, Mom and Dad like to joke that I've become a teenager overnight. I'm really good at hearing a question 3 or 4 times and not responding. You can imagine that goes over well at home.

My running and stair climbing have both made a noticeable improvement over this past month. On several occasions I've asked Dad to stop and just watch me walk up or down shorter steps on my own (without holding on to anything). Yes, they're shorter steps, but the confidence is building!

John got to come to my physical therapy session this morning and we both had a blast. Pretty sure you could leave the two of us there for the day and we'd be fine by ourselves!

Family Night at school last week. The evening featured a bunch of amazing food from around the world.

Squint, scoot and wave

Another video today. We wanted to capture a few of the silly things Johnny does before he grows out of them!

It's been way too long since we've shared a video!

Here's one Dad shot back in December:

Broncos

Brady, Amanda and Landon came over for our annual Super Bowl get-together on Sunday. All three of us kids were a little more interested in the dancing during the half time show. Then it was back to playing.

Regis game

Capturing a memory today: I puked about 40 minutes after this picture was taken. A lot. And it just kept coming. Luckily, Dad had packed my dinner in a plastic storage container that was perfect for capturing vomit. We were also lucky that there was no one seated directly in front of us!

The calm before the storm.

Playing with the presents that we...uh...I mean, John...received last week!

Party

We had a small party for John on his birthday last week. His favorite part was definitely the wrapping paper. My favorite part was getting to open all of his presents for him!

Indoor playground

Things got a bit quiet in the kitchen as Dad was cooking the other day.

Upon turning around...

Busted!

Might as well smile if you're already caught.
