5 years, 3 months & 3 years

Happy Birthday to John!

We had to get up a little early today and Keillor was not in the mood for photos.

New lightsaber from Mateo and Dominique.

John transitions to the Primary classroom starting today. So instead of being the oldest, he'll now be the youngest in a classroom of 3 to 5-year olds. He is extremely excited for a couple reasons: His friend, Alejo, is already in that classroom and the Primary playground has "bikes" and more exciting outdoor equipment.

Both Mom and Dad continue to say that we're growing up too fast. Case in point: A conversation at church yesterday:

Tess: Is Jesus dead?
Dad: Yes. Well, no. Yes and no. He died and then came back to life and now he lives with God.
Tess: Where?
Dad: In heaven, wait... uhh...well, they're not on earth.
Tess: Oh! So they're on a different planet.
Dad: Not really, it's just that Jesus is all around us.
Tess: And he's even in my heart.

For Tess:

1. What's the best part about John turning three? Culver's for supper

2. What is your favorite TV show? PBS Kids [editor's note: That's an entire channel]

3. What do you want to be when you grow up? I don't know

4. Favorite dessert? Johnny's birthday cake

5. Best thing about your brother? Playing with him

6. If you had to leave for an emergency, what three things would you grab? A hose if there was a fire. And I can't think of anything else.

7. If you could be an animal for a day? Cheetah

8. Favorite season? Summer!

9. Would you rather be alone or with friends? With friends

10. Would you rather swim in a pool of marshmallows or M&Ms? Marshmallows

For John:

1. What's the best part about being three? No words, but holds up three fingers and smiles

2. What is your favorite TV show? Paw Patrol [editor's note: We don't think he has never seen it, but he has a lot of clothing with the characters]

3. What do you want to be when you grow up? Storm Trooper

4. Favorite dessert? Cake

5. Best thing about your sister? Playing!

6. If you had to leave for an emergency, what three things would you grab? Apples, bananas, strawberries

7. If you could be an animal for a day? Lion

8. Favorite season? Springtime [editor's note: He actually said that.]

Buffs

We got an extra ticket for a recent Buffs' game so Johnny could join us for the first time this season. While the result of the game wasn't what we wanted, we still had a bunch of fun!

Halfway through the second half, Leanne (who sits in front of us) got up for a few minutes. John climbed down one row into her seat to sit next to Chris (Leanne's husband). When Leanne returned, John moved to Chris' lap and stayed there for over 10 minutes!

Stock show

Judey and Alexis came for a visit last weekend so we took them to a few things that you can only find in Colorado this time of year. First adventure: The National Western Stock Show!

Both Alexis and Judey were impressed with the smells when we visited the livestock barns.
