New house

Dad and I helped our neighbor move a new rocking chair into their house the other night. We had to take it out of the box to fit it through the door. As we were walking back to our house, Dad noticed the large box sitting in the yard and we offered to take care of it for them.

It was a perfect distraction from the crappy weather this past Saturday!

We installed a sunroof, as well!

Of course Keillor had to check out my new space, too.
Turns out that he likes the couch way better.

Yes, this is still in the middle of our living room.

More John

More Baby John today! I still love everything about him. I like to help Mom and Dad with diaper changes, I try to console him when he's crying and I know he loves it when I pat his head all the time.

Spring training

Brady, Amanda, and Landon delivered a present for John this weekend and they brought something for the big sister, too.

It's perfect because baseball season is starting soon!

Dad says, "Use two hands!"

p.s. I caught on quick enough that this has now become a downstairs or outside toy.

10 fingers

I love to hold Baby John! Even when he'd rather be somewhere else. I don't mind the crying at all.

Counting his fingers for about the 20th time since he came home a few weeks ago.

More kisses!

We forgot to post a little update about John after his 2-week doctor visit last week. He's growing really well! He was 6 lbs, 12 oz when he was born. 6 lbs, 5 oz when he left the hospital and last Thursday he weighed in at 7 lbs, 8 oz. Mom had a chance to weigh him again on Tuesday and he was less than an ounce a way from 8 lbs. My brother likes to eat!

Because of his good weight gain, Mom and Dad don't have to wake up to feed him any longer. It's ok if he wants to sleep all night (of course he doesn't).

Wildlife

I had the day off from school yesterday so Dad stayed home with me. We took a field trip with Brady and Landon down to the Wildlife Experience (since we had free passes!). It's a wildlife art and natural history museum about 30 minutes south of Denver.

My visit didn't start off well because the first thing we saw was an animated howler monkey who howled at me and showed his sharp teeth. I tried to climb up Dad's leg! And then a few feet later some other critter made a sound and I went spinning and tumbled across Uncle Brady's legs. Both he and Dad had a good chuckle. The rest of the visit was much more mellow (until we got to the angry crocodile, of course).

 Bison!

 Snack time.

IKEA for lunch on the way home!

Presents

Sure, getting a new baby brother is pretty fun, but perhaps the best part about getting a little brother is that all sorts of folks are giving me presents!

One of my recent favorites: Watercolors!

[Thank you, Christina!]

Pictures with Grandma

Photos with Grandma before we took her to the airport on Sunday...

More kisses!

And on the way to the airport Grandma left me some money for a specific present. So on the way home we stopped at Target to get the special treat:

History Colorado Center

Grandma, Dad and I took a field trip to the History Colorado Center on Saturday. It was amazing. And then to top it off, we made a side trip over to the central library branch. I slept well for my nap that afternoon!

Collecting eggs from the 1920s barn.

Driving the Model T with Grandma. Notice that I'm not willing to take my eyes off the road.

 Watch out for the cattle!

 Admiring the craft brewery exhibit.

I found another car while Dad was picking out some books at the library.

More basketball

Another basketball game!

My favorite parts about the Regis women's games:
1. Picnic supper at my seat
2. Popcorn at halftime
3. The coaches always say hi to me

Dad and I took the rest of the family over to the game this past Friday. It was super exciting and the ladies won with a last second 3-point shot.

2 out of 3 people were happy to be in this picture.
1 out of 3 people just wanted to eat her supper.

John stayed like this for the entire game.

Strangle hold

Before Dad goes to bed each night, he likes to check-in on me and give me one last kiss. Here's what he found a couple nights ago:

Still tucked in perfectly and giving puppy a really long hug.

First day home

Catching up on pictures from last Saturday!

After I met John, he had to have a snack:

And then I asked him if he wanted to play, but he was too sleepy. So I decided to leave him a book for when he woke up.

2 years, 3 months & 0 months

Monthly picture time with our dog! We're a little late posting these because Mom and Dad were both busy on Thursday, so we apologize for the delay. The logistics of gathering us all together for a photo have changed a little bit and I'm sure the pictures will get more entertaining in future months.

It's very convenient that John was born on the 29th so now I can tell you about what I've been up to and what he's been up to on the same day each month (since I was also born on the 29th).

Monthly summary:
I continue to grow up more and more each day. I've started stringing lots of words together to form full sentences and even Mom and Grandma can understand me (most of the time). Heck, even Keillor listens to me when I tell him to sit and lay down (most of the time).

I love using my play kitchen each evening when Dad is using his kitchen and most of the time I tell him that I'm making a cake for dessert. I also help out with chores each morning and evening by feeding Keillor. My only fault is that I sometimes give him too much food.

I love going to school and I smile and laugh each day when I see my friends. My favorite school activities continue to be painting and eating. At least that's what I tell Dad on the way home most days.

Toilet training is getting better and better. I'm good at going in the toilet, but still not so good about telling someone I need to go.

As for physical therapy, my focus this month is on my abs and butt. I've got six different exercises to do each evening and most of the time I enjoy them!

Of course the big change this month was the arrival of John. I love him. And I want to hold him all the time. My only breakdown (so far) happened yesterday when Dad had to take him away from my lap for a diaper change. I didn't like that one bit.

John seems to mostly enjoy eating and napping at this point. He doesn't like to sleep at night yet and he loves cuddling with Mom. We had a nurse visit us this afternoon to see how everyone was doing (they do that for all newborns with our Kaiser health plan) and she said everyone is great. At this point, they like to see newborns gain at least 1/2 to 1 ounce per day. Well, in the past day, John has gained 1.5 ounces. That baby brother likes to eat!

A number of people have asked what we're going to call him. Our answer so far: Whatever you want. John, Johnny, and JJ seem to be the front runners. I like to call him Baby John or Buddy, of course.

Welcome home, John

Didn't have time to edit this one, so we're just posting the whole clip. This was yesterday around 11:30 am.
