Shopping cart

It was John's first time riding in the cart (instead of in his car seat) while grocery shopping a few days ago. Pretty sure it's one of his new favorite things.

2 years, 10 months & 7 months

Bug on the ground!

This month went by quickly! Lots of visitors and lots of activities made the time fly.

Johnny suddenly grew up over the last week or two. His smile, laugh and facial expressions make him seem more like a little boy and less like a baby. His favorite activity is still eating, but he certainly enjoys sitting and playing with all the toys I bring him, as well.

He seems to love going to school with me, too. When his teachers say hi to him each morning he returns a big smile and sort of jumps up and down in Dad's arms.

As you may have seen in previous blog posts, he sits up well enough to go on rides in our double-wide stroller and in the grocery cart. He's still just a tad too small to go in the BOB by himself (without his car seat adapter). Favorite foods lately include pretty much anything. New foods this past week have been cauliflower, corn and spinach.

As for myself, I've had an exciting month at school. Two weeks ago I transitioned to the Primary room (3 to 6 year olds) so now I'm the youngest in my class. I wasn't a big fan of being dropped off in the new classroom for the first several days. I would cry while saying goodbye to Dad, but I stopped as soon as he'd leave!

And now for my monthly quiz from Dad:
Favorite color: White
Favorite dessert: Fig Newtons
Favorite food: Cheese
Favorite teacher: Mindy
Favorite sport: Monsters (Mom and Dad haven't learned this one yet!)
Favorite activity at school: Instruments
Favorite President: Bill Clinton
Favorite Minnesota Twin: Football

Mom and Dad are leaving us with Grandma (and several other helpers) next weekend when they go to Montana for a wedding. We'll have lots of fun stories to share from those adventures!

Bike race

Last Sunday started with a morning trip out to Golden to see the women's race that was part of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. They raced a 1.5 mile loop around town for about an hour. Very exciting because there was action every few minutes.

Trying to be patient while waiting for the race to begin, but also too crabby to look at the camera.

The only reason I looked at the camera for this shot was that Dad yelled, "There's a blue puppy on my head!" That wasn't exciting enough for John to wake up, though.

Two pouting kids.

Okee Dokee Brothers

Very busy weekend last weekend! On Saturday morning, Dad and I went to see a bluegrass duo called the Okee Dokee Brothers at the central library. I listened to about 40 minutes of the show and then wanted to go up to the children's area to get some books. We were also fortunate to find an Okee Dokee Brothers CD to borrow!

The kids' area also featured an exhibit about how to become a spy. Step #1: Create a disguise!
No one named Tess around here!

Johnny jumper

Johnny is currently at the ideal stage for his play jumper. Stick him in there and he just goes.

Even when he's a little grumpy, he'll continue to jump while crying!

Carnation Festival

The city of Wheat Ridge had their Carnation Festival last weekend, so Dad, Grandma and I went over for the parade!

Prime shady spot right along the curb.

There were three things that interested me enough to stand up when they came by: Tubas, horses and fire engines.

And then Brady and Landon showed up for a bit! Landon was sleeping peacefully in his stroller until the teenagers in one of the fire engines sprayed him with a bit of water!

Double-wide

John's finally big enough to enjoy one of Mom's best garage sale finds from last summer: A double-wide stroller!

Since John's so little, he doesn't mind that I share his space.

Twins on TV

Mom rearranged the living room a few weeks ago but that doesn't prevent Johnny from finding the Twins' game!

Guest readers

Last batch of catchup photos from John's baptism weekend...

We had guest readers all over the place while Grandpa John, Grandma Lila, Grandpa Rick and Grandma Candy were in town. It was awesome! Grandma Linda is still staying with us so I still get that treat for a couple more weeks.

John chose to have his bedtime bottle while lying down in his room so he got his own special reader.

One last group shot before Grandpa and Grandma had to head home.

Juice

Still finding random pictures from John's baptism party last week!

Throughout my life I've been a strict water and milk kid. Mom and Dad offered me other things in the past, but I always declined. It wasn't until recently that I finally tried apple juice. Turns out it's delicious!

John's baptism party featured a few special treats including juice boxes!

I drank this box in one go. Didn't look up until it was done.

Keillor had way too much fun at the party so when the crowd dwindled down to just a few people visiting, Dad put out a blanket and Keillor knew what to do.

Gardening

Our tomato plants haven't produced any ripe tomatoes yet, but I continue to keep a close eye on things...

Headshots

A few random pictures of John from the past week...

Dad tried to put him in BOB (the stroller) without his car seat adapter, but he's still a bit too small.

Al fresco

Landon came over for John's party on Sunday, but then we both had to take naps. So he went home for his, but then got to come back for an outside dinner!

Wine

Careful, John! You don't want to see Mom's reaction when you mess with her wine!

Baptism

John was baptized on Sunday and we hosted a really fun party afterwards. Grandma Lila, Grandpa John and Aunt Judey even came out from New Jersey!

Isaiah's birthday

This past Saturday was Isaiah's birthday party so Dad and I left Mom and John in charge of all of the visiting grandparents and we escaped to a super fun party!

The park featured some water features that were perfect for little kids and a really fun playground. And of course Dad forgot to get a picture of me with the birthday boy!

After emerging from this tunnel I liked to exclaim, "Now I'm a butterfly!"

Green chair

I don't know what to think about today's picture. I was napping on Sunday so Mom brought Johnny out to the backyard and let him sit on my green lawn chair!

The worst part: He liked it!
