5 years, 5 months & 3 years, 2 months

Monthly picture time! We tried for the front porch, but it was way too sunny. We got one goofy picture, but then had to relocate to John's room.

The weather is getting warmer and we've been enjoying playing outside recently. Playgrounds, backyard, Regis campus, wherever.

We're on a break from swim lessons for a couple months, but we still head over to the rec center for art class on Tuesdays. I've also been doing a couple clubs after school this past month: Yoga on Wednesday afternoons and Lego on Thursdays. I love them both and told Dad that I for sure want to continue yoga in the next session of after-school clubs.

We haven't captured any photos yet, but Dad has taken us to a couple baseball and softball games over on campus in the past two weeks. Both John and I agree that softball is more exciting - mostly because the teams like to cheer so much!

And in other Regis-related news: Our favorite basketball player, Roberto, joined us for dinner last Sunday. It was so much fun and we look forward to having him over again soon!

We're on spring break this week with Mom so we decided that our monthly questions will be all about her:

John
  1. What is the best lunch that Mom makes? Quesadillas
  2. How tall is Mom? [Raises arm above head]
  3. What does Mom do when you're not around? Uh...drink coffee
  4. What does Mom do for her job? Works at Home Depot
  5. What is Mom not so good at? Hammer work
  6. What is Mom's favorite food? Apples and grapes
  7. How do you know Mom loves you? Snuggles

Tess
  1. What is the best lunch that Mom makes? Eggs
  2. How tall is Mom? That tall [then holds arm above head]
  3. What does Mom do when you're not around? She likes to rest in her bed
  4. What does Mom do for her job? Keeps us safe
  5. What is Mom not so good at? I don't know
  6. What is Mom's favorite food? Funyuns
  7. How do you know Mom loves you? By giving us hugs

Swimming and singing

Just getting a couple videos off Dad's phone today.

The first part of this video is the pool we visited for a birthday party last weekend. John ran laps back and forth for so long that Dad finally decided he needed to capture it on video. And then I requested he also film me dunking me head.

The second half of the video is a concert by John. Note the foot tapping as he starts to sing. At no point has anyone ever taught him to do that.

Jenga

After the St. Patrick's parade last weekend, we took a pit stop at a brewery on the way back to the car. This kid found a new favorite game...

Restaurant Day

For the past couple months our class has been learning about food, markets, grocery stores, and farms. It all culminated last week in Restaurant Day!

Our class hosted all of the parents in our classroom restaurant. Every student had a restaurant role: Chef, Pastry Chef, Host, Manager, Servers, and Bussers.

Our menu was selected by the class:

Appetizer: Tomato Soup
Main: Grilled Cheese
Dessert: Chocolate cake

It is no exaggeration to say that I was more excited about this event than Christmas or my birthday.

Working hard!

Happy customers with their server.

Pool

Our friend from across the street hosted her 7th birthday at a pool that was perfect height for kids!

It was so much fun and we're excited to go back since it was only about 10 minutes away from home!

Parade

We made our annual trip over to the St. Patrick's Day parade last Saturday and even met up with some folks we knew!

Not really trying to do bunny ears, but whatever, it's almost Easter!

Our picks

John's got a chance.

Tess was excited that there was a Buffalo and Montana.

You can click the images to see them slightly larger.

Safe!

We had some time to run around the Regis gym on Tuesday evening. Spring sports are clearly on John's mind as he kept running then sliding on his belly while yelling, "Safe!"

Bike train

We've done this before, but not captured pictures.

Prep work. Five tires ready to go!

There's a little brother smiling in the trailer.

Off we go!

p.s. Throughout the evening John kept saying, "Dad, the bike ride was so much fun!"

Last weekend

Our regular photographer was in California for Grandpa Les' 100th birthday last weekend so we're a little short on photos this week.

I was off school last Friday, so Mom coordinated a get-together with friends from school!

Warm enough for short sleeves on the porch!

100 years old!
