Summer break - day 5

In case you've been wondering about the amount of museums we've been to this week: One of the benefits to being students at Family Star Montessori is that we receive something called a 5x5 card. It's program through the city that encourages kids to visit five cultural attractions by the time they're five. The 5x5 card gives our family free admission to about 12 attractions around town throughout the year, so we've been making full use of the card this week!

Friday's adventure: The Denver Art Museum. It was so awesome that we're planning to go back next week!

Making masks.

One mask completed! One kid in the background sampling the glue stick.

Best paint ever: Water.

Stuffed building materials.

iPad at home? Not so much. iPad at the museum in a protected case? Sure!

Snack time, of course.

Summer break - day 4

For our Thursday adventure we went over to our local library branch for the weekly Preschool Storytime fun. This week featured a drummer and we were all percussionists. It must have been a great event because John sat still for most of the 30 minute session!

Pouting because little brother got the "better instruments."

Listening to instructions.

Enjoying the music.

The most popular seat seemed to be Dad's lap.

At the end of the event, the musician asked all the kids to hold out a hand and close their eyes. He told us not to open them until he said so. It took a long time to give each kid a surprise, but I kept my eyes closed the entire time.

Next stop - Picnic lunch with surprise guests: Zoe and Uncle Jeff!

This child is a wild man when it involves climbing.

Summer break - day 3

The whole family went to Johnny's 18-month check-up on Wednesday morning, then Mom went to work and Dad, John and I met Landon and Brady at the Museum of Nature and Science!

Learning about Mule Deer.

Not a quality photo, but we wanted to capture John sharing his snack with Landon!

Best Smile and Eye Contact Award goes to...Uncle Brady!

Brady took me and Landon over to dig for dinosaur bones in the sand and that gave Dad a chance to take John to the little kids area...

Snuggling typically means it's time to head home.

Summer break - day 2

Day #2 of summer break on Tuesday!

Our original plan was to head to the History Colorado Center. Turns out that it didn't open until 10:00, so Dad suggested we spend a few minutes across the street at the big central library branch. Turns out that it doesn't open until 10:00, either! But since Dad planted the idea of the library in our heads, we demanded to go for a few minutes before heading over to the history museum.

Library elephants.

Hay loft at the museum.

Climbing up to the loft.

The highlight of any museum trip: Snack time.

What the heck are these?!

Figured it out! They're like binoculars!

Figured it out! It's a car!

Barrel Man

Dinner at Culver's!

This kid ate his frozen custard the fastest.

Puddle time after the quick rain storm.

Anything you can do...

Summer break - day 1

We're on school break this week, so we're having fun around town!

Our first adventure on Monday was the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave outside Golden (very near where Mom and Dad had their wedding reception to give you out-of-towners a frame of reference).

I thought it was cool that this tree was growing right in the middle of the path!

After naps, I requested painting. John joined in, as well.

We were all impressed that it took John over 30 minutes to finally taste the paint. He quickly learned that it tasted very similar to vanilla pudding (which it was).

Clean up crew.

Brown Bear

It's been a long time since we've shared a video!

Here's a clip of me reading one of my favorite books to two rubber duck friends at the library this past Saturday.

One of our regular stops on campus: Our buddy, St. Ignatius.

John trying to give a kiss.

Returning the favor.
