I'm at home with Tess tonight and Denise just called with an update that every nurse and doctor failed to mention to us during the day today. During labor last night, Denise's temperature went up to 100.8 at one point. Because of that, they need to monitor John's vitals for a total of 48 hours to make sure an infection wasn't passed along to him.
So it'll be another boring day and night in the hospital on Friday and we expect to be home on Saturday.
Both John and Denise continue to do great. And the hospital has HGTV, so that helps a little bit with Denise's attitude. I'm sure I will feel the consequences of this time a few weeks from now when a master house repair/remodel to-do list is presented to me.

John James
John James arrived a few hours ago! He was having a little trouble keeping his oxygen levels up so he spent a few hours in the NICU. We're currently getting situated in our Mom/Baby room and John is on the way down to see us.
Denise did great during labor and pushing. John was taking his time between 10 pm and 1 am - sort of stuck an inch from fresh air for a couple hours! It took the doctor just mentioning the possibility of a C section to get both Denise and John to get their acts together and he was born just a little while later.
Pictures coming as soon as we can get them, of course.

At the hospital
Lots of breaking news.
We've been at the hospital for about 90 minutes now. 7 cm dilated when we arrived. 9.5 now. Denise is doing really well.
Baby coming pretty soon, I suppose.
Not a ton of excitement on the way over except Denise's car getting a flat tire earlier this evening. So Tess and Grandma are at home with that car and we switched to my car at the last minute. Thank you to Brady for sorting out the flat!
I'd like to announce...
...that Denise slept the entire night. Best night of sleep she's had in a long time.
No real contractions!
Her plan is to take Keillor for several walks today.

Waiting
Denise is sleeping now. Definitely feeling contractions, but all very mild so far. She wouldn't say that any of them are painful yet. Bags are packed and at the door. We went for a long walk after supper so hopefully that'll encourage things to keep on moving.
Baby brother = soon
I'll be turning my blog over to Dad for a few days so he can update all of our readers on the impending arrival of my new baby brother. I'll take over again once the new guy comes home.
Update from earlier today:
Denise and I went to our regularly scheduled doctor appointment this morning and he did a cervical exam. During the exam he said, "Ok...uh why are you here and not at the hospital?" He was surprised she wasn't feeling any contractions.
At about 10:00 this morning she was 3 cm dilated and 100% effaced. So the little guy should be coming soon. Denise isn't experiencing any legit contractions (as in, the painful ones), but she is feeling some mild ones.
She was planning to be home from work today around 3:00 and was going for a long walk to give that kid some encouragement!
For those of you that care for other details: Bags are packed. Grandma Linda is in town for Tess. Brady and Erin are on call for dog walking. More updates as we have anything interesting to share, of course.

Another Buffs' game
Another trip to Boulder for a basketball game last weekend and I even got to stay up past my bedtime!
Dad and I took a bathroom break during the second half and on the way back to our seats, I discovered a new section of carpet. So of course I had to break it in:

Museum trip
We all had the day off from work/school on Monday, so we took a family trip over to the Museum of Nature and Science!

Swing
I asked to go on the big kid swing at the park the other day and I really just like sitting on it. No actual swinging required!

Shopping cart
Home Depot is a popular destination for our family, but it wasn't until this past weekend that we finally noticed the race car shopping carts! I didn't want to get out.
Now, which pedal is the gas again?

Family night
My school hosts a family night once per month and last week's event featured a few of my favorite things...
Stickers!
And cookie decorating!
Yes, Mom let me eat the whole thing.

Landon
My buddy Landon came over on Sunday to play while the grown-ups watched the football game. We had a really fun time and I couldn't stop talking about him after he went home.
Noticing that Landon also had a Bronco on his shirt.
Trying to hold hands!

Stock Show
Mom went to yoga on Sunday so Dad and I took a trip over to the annual National Western Stock Show. It's a 3-week long event here in Denver that features farmers and ranchers from all over the country.
We might head back later in the month for a rodeo, but on Sunday we got to see nearly everything on the grounds and barns.
This first picture is a little blurry because it was a bumpy ride, but the day started off with my first ever bus ride from the parking lot:

It may not be reflected on my expression, but I loved it!
Watch your step in the barns!
Snack time while watching one of the steer shows.
Those steers you see in the background are only 15 months old. The heaviest one was 1500 pounds!
Chickens and geese.
Watching the baby animals in the petting zoo area.
I didn't pet any, but waved and said, "Hello" to most of them.
Along with the bus ride from the parking lot, this egg conveyor was my favorite.
I would have stayed here all day if it was up to me!

Big fans
I'm such a big fan of Regis basketball that I made Mom and Dad bring me to a road game on Saturday! Ok, it was only 20 minutes away from home, so not a huge deal, but still a fun adventure.
The puzzled look is due to the fact that Dad is using the camera on his new phone and I'm not sure what I'm looking at.
Yes, you read that correctly: My Dad now has a phone with a working camera (Mom got one, too!).
Also, there was popcorn!

Playing
My dog likes to play puzzles with me. Mom came into the living room last week to find the following:
That's the board and bag of pieces that I handed to Keillor so he didn't have to get down from the couch.

Birthday party
It was Berkeley's 3rd birthday last week and she invited us to a party with singing, dancing and music. Also, there was cheese for lunch!
Clapping.
Making noise with the shakers.

Backpack
It takes a little while to get into my boots, snow pants, coat, neck warmer, hat, mittens, and finally the harness, but I love this mode of wintertime transportation...
Trying to turn my head towards the camera!

Crash
We went up to Boulder to watch the Buffs' basketball game on Sunday. The game lasted until about 2:00 pm (which is an hour past my normal nap time). I was wired when we got back to the car.
And then the car started moving...

Badgers
The Badgers played their bowl game at a convenient time this year. That meant I could watch most of it before nap time. Keillor takes his naps before me, though.
