Thursday's game was included in our last post so we'll start with Friday's game at Regis:
Fig Newton for being a good sports fan!
Kiss for Dad for being a good sports fan!
On to Saturday now...
We rushed over to the gym after my nap time to say goodbye to some of the seniors and Coach Porter who is retiring this year after 38 years at Regis!
With Coach.
Explaining to Mom that it was a 30-second timeout, not a full timeout.
Helping Mom rock Baby John back to sleep.
Then is was back to Boulder on Sunday night for the last Buffs' game of the season. We brought the whole family!
With Mom and John (he's snoozing in the black sling!)
Showing Dad how to roll up the roster card and look through it!
And then Dad told me it works better if you close one eye.
[note that both eyes are closed]
In today's post, I just want to take a minute to document a couple basketball stories from this past season:
As we've mentioned in past posts, we often walk over to the Regis campus during our evening walks with Keillor. At some point last fall, my favorite destination became the gym. Dad and I both enjoy stopping in to see which team was practicing. Basketball became our favorite to watch mostly because both teams and coaching staffs genuinely seemed to enjoy having us there. Especially Coach Porter (men's coach) who would always give me a fist bump and visit for a while.
Shortly before Christmas, we stopped over to watch practice and Coach Porter came over to us quickly and said, "I was hoping to see you this week, Tess! Do you have time to come up to my office?" And that's when he gave me the Regis t-shirt you've seen me wearing in some of our past basketball posts.
Three weeks ago, Dad and I were watching the women practice and we happened to be there as practice was ending. Dad was bundling me up and getting ready to put me in the backpack as several of the women came over to say hi. Some were excited to visit with me, others were excited to see Keillor (who usually sits nicely on the mat by the doors). Only one of the players wanted to visit with Dad. She said, "I need to get your names." When Dad asked why, she said, "My family lives out of state and I want to put you on the list to use my family passes." Her name is Mackenzie and she's a freshman this year so we get to watch her for three more years! She put our names on the list for this past weekend's games, as well.
