Lefse

Erin came over the weekend before Thanksgiving so that we could make some lefse for Thanksgiving dinner. When it came time for Thanksgiving, Dad forgot to take it all out of the freezer! Or was that on purpose?

Taste test!

Little brother is a big lefse fan, as well!

3 years, 1 month & 10 months

Here's the best pics we've got for this month's update. Johnny won't sit still and Keillor refused to lift his head!

Telling John that he needs to sit still and look at the camera.

We tried to hook John onto my leg and it worked for a few seconds.

Keillor was worn out from all the activity the past several days.

We've hosted a bit of mayhem over the past five days with a bunch of house guests. It was so much fun! You'll see pictures throughout the week.

Speaking of fun, this past month has been a ton of fun, as well.

John is growing up too fast! He's not crawling yet, but he's moving very quickly with his upright scooting. We can no longer leave him in a room by himself. I'm getting really good at hollering for Mom or Dad when I see him going for a power cord or something else unsafe, too.

Part of the Montessori philosophy is using real plates and utensils at meals and John is actually getting quite good at drinking from a cup. Occasionally it ends up all over his face, but he loves being in charge of something at mealtime. His new favorite food this month: Lefse.

We've got snow on the ground now and Johnny loves looking at it. The past few days it's been about 15 or 20 degrees on our evening walk and he enjoys being all bundled up in the cool weather.

John's biggest news this month: Teeth! Two on the bottom and it looks like two more are getting ready on the top.

I think we've mentioned it in past posts, but I've started swimming lessons again. I'm in the big kid class now and Dad isn't in the pool with me. The first night I barely got my swim suit wet. Dad bribed me with a Wendy's Junior Frosty on the second night and that worked!

It snowed a bit over the long Thanksgiving weekend so we took the Seattle cousins outside to play. I loved it. Dad pulled us around in the sled and I can't wait for more snow. I am also much more comfortable walking around in snow pants and boots. That was not the case last winter.

My new game for inside the house: Racing. I love running from the kitchen to the front door. No accidents yet.

A lot of excitement on tap for this coming month. We said goodbye to seven out-of-town relatives today and we'll get another arriving in mid-December (Grandma Linda). The big event this coming week: Our trip on Thursday night to the ballet!

Hat?

Dad was making supper. I started laughing. John started crying. Dad turned around then grabbed his camera before helping John.

Trips to Home Depot are now an adventure. Johnny can finally sit behind a steering wheel!

Regis basketball

Basketball season has finally arrived! Dad and I went over to our first Regis women's game of the season on Friday night. I sat in my seat the entire game (thanks to stickers and popcorn at halftime).

Snooze

Going for a walk on Saturday morning wasn't going to stop John from napping on time!

We need to write these things down

As Halloween was approaching, a lot of our walking and car time consisted of talking about costumes. I was fairly set on being a dinosaur, but still enjoyed thinking of other ideas. On our walk a week or two ago I told Dad that I wanted to be a hyena (then I growled), that John wanted to be a mermaid, and that Keillor was pretty sure he wanted to be a princess.

Mom had to fly out of town for work two weeks ago and left while I was still sleeping. When I woke up, Dad reminded me that Mom had to fly to Wisconsin for work. My two questions: "Oh, is she going to the Badger game?" and "Do you think she'll see Bucky Badger?"

Dad and I went over to church the other night to change the banners above the altar. Part of doing that involved stepping up on a chair. Upon seeing Dad do this I commented, "Oh! Dad! I don't like to see you standing on a chair. That is very dangerous!"

Last week Dad asked if I was going to share a cupcake with him after supper. I said, "Yes, after I eat four pieces of broccoli!" Dad said, "Four?!" And I replied, "No, five pieces!" while I held up five fingers. Dad agreed and I once again proved that I am an excellent negotiator.

Dinner party

We finished off the weekend with a dinner party over at Gael's house on Sunday! I did not want to leave.

In fact, while getting in the car, I told Dad that I would like to go to Gael's house for dinner again sometime. And then one minute later I repeated the same request.

On the way to school yesterday morning, I told Dad, "I think we should probably go to Gael's for supper on Saturday."

Birthday dinner

One last post from our birthday festivities last week.

Vanilla custard with brownie sprinkles. And I still fell asleep on-time!

Halloween

I am not a big fan of dressing up. But I'll do it if there's candy on the line! And Dad never got a shot of my wings and tail on the back of the costume. The good news is that you'll probably see John in the same outfit in a couple years!

You look funny. Hey, so do you!

I hated having the dragon hood on my head. It lasted about 20 seconds.
